Hello, My name is Michelle Pimentel for About.com and today I am going to share with you a day in the fabulous life of me, a preschool teacher.

Education is Necessary to Be a Qualified Preschool Teacher
One of the things that motivated me to be a teacher was my daughter, and when I was a child, I also had difficulty adjusting to a non-family environment. So, I strive to provide an atmosphere for the kids that is comfortable for them. My educational background is Christian education, I have a bachelors in Bible arts, and an ETA teaching certification as well as a Montessori certification. My day starts at 7:15am. Usually I arrive at that time and I begin to prepare for the day. Sometimes I prepare the night before depending how intense the art activity is or what we are doing for that particular day.

Pre-School Teaching Require Different Skills.
Finding the right school to work for is important because every school is different regarding their moral standards and for me it was important to teach at a Christian school because I believe it’s important that the children to have a Godly foundation. There are many differences between teaching preschool and entire grades. One of the differences is that the children are with me for the whole day as opposed to being sent to different teachers or different classes. I chose to teach preschool mainly because I have a very goofy personality and they are so fun and they make me laugh and they are also so moldable at this age and everything is a new discovery to them. This is where they start to love to learn so that they can explore and grow to learn in other grades as well.

Administrative Duties Come With a Teaching Career
At nap time I normally check my fantasy football, just kidding. I usually take my first break while the assistant will watch the children as they nap and she’ll pat them. When I come back from my break, I then see if anyone else needs help getting down to sleep and we help them do that… and then I do some administrative work such as lesson planning or daily notes for parents during that time. School actually ends at 11:00am but I’m here until 4:15 to help with the aftercare program until parents are able to pick up.Being a Pre-K teacher is so rewarding because the children just reward you immediately with hugs and love and they are really so honest and give you that affection and compassion.  Source : About.com at (http://video.about.com/careerplanning/Day-in-the-Life--Pre-K---Kindergarten-Teacher.htm)
